Caregiver Conference DVD’s Available for Sale in January

In 2007, the California Brain Injury Association (CALBIA) presented a series of five identical conferences around the state, designed to provide valuable information to Caregivers. Thanks to the grant received by the Aera Energy Fund Kern Community Foundation, CALBIA was able to produce a series of DVD’s which covers the following topics:

Advocacy: Taking Charge & Influencing Change
Family Dynamics After Brain Injury
Communication Issues: Tips & Tricks
The ABC’s of Behavior Management
Managing Medications With Your Personal Physician
STRESS: How to Combat Caregiver Burnout
Preparing for the Future: Medical & Financial Issues

These DVD’s will be available for sale from CALBIA’s website in January. The cost for the DVD’s is $20 each, or $125 for the entire set.

California TBI Council to Host Conference in February

The 2009-2010 California Legislative Session began in early December to swear in the new members elect­ed in November, organize the Assembly and Senate and elect it’s leaders, and most important­ly, to try and tackle the mon­strous and ever growing State Budget Deficit.

9th Annual State of the Art Medical & Rehabilitative Care in Brain Injury: Clinical & Legal Implications Conference

The 9th Annual State of the Art con­ference was held in Napa, Califor­nia on November 21-22, 2008. Over 100 medical and legal professionals were in attendance, and as the direct ser­vice providers to persons with brain injury, they received continuing education units in relation to their fields and disci­plines. The topics covered ranged from pediatric brain injury and the initial resus­citation following TBI to the development and use of demonstrative evidence to legal Silverado Resort & Country Club Golf Course tactics, evidence and medical considera­tions in the trial of a TBI case. In addition, we were very pleased to have Ms. Susan Connors, President / CEO of the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) speak about the BIAA, The Voice of Help and Hope.
