BIAA Roots On Servicemembers at Wounded Warrior Soldier Ride White House Kickoff
A representative of BIAA was invited to attend an event hosted by President George W. Bush on Thursday at the White House. BIAA Government Affairs Director Laura Schiebelhut was proud to be part of the inspiring event, which honored a group of wounded warriors as they kicked off the Wounded Warrior Project’s second annual “Soldier Ride: White House to Light House Challenge.”
Soldier Ride, sponsored by the Wounded Warrior Project, is a rehabilitative cycling program for wounded warriors, including individuals with brain injury. For many of these combat-wounded veterans, Soldier Ride provides the first steps in the return to an active lifestyle.

Every year, communities across the nation proclaim April as Child Abuse Awareness Month. Typically, well-meaning child-abuse organizations write articles to educate people on parenting skills. They claim that times are stressful and it’s normal when children get on our nerves. They write, “Don’t throw your child in the air; don’t shake your baby; if you get angry, call someone until you cool down; don’t take it out on your child; and the list goes on and on and on.

White Plains, Ny - In acknowledgment of this year’s National Crime Victims’ Rights Week, District Attorney Janet DiFiore discussed the formulation of a multi-faceted team approach to child abuse and safety in Westchester County.
The initiative involves three collaborative efforts that form a comprehensive safety net aimed at prevention, mitigation and investigation of child abuse. Partnered in this effort are the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office and the child abuse prevention services at the Valhalla Campus of the Westchester Medical Center.
